Our range of apparel and accessories are designed for living, harnessing everyday style and enduring quality. This principle shapes everything we do, whether it’s choosing a new denim supplier for our jeans, giving our stores a fresh fit-out, or making our head office more environmentally friendly. Most of all, everything we create comes back to you: what you do, what you like and where you go. We design for the life you live. Barkers is “Made for Life” but we’re committed also making things better for both the future and the now.

Cotton

This soft, breathable fabric comes from the cotton plant, and we use it for everything from our collared dress shirts to more casual items like tees and shorts.

Cotton crops require a great deal of water, and many cotton growers rely on pesticides that are harmful for the environment and community. We want to do better than that, which is why we use responsible options in our range.

Organic Cotton

The sustainability and health of the soil, eco-system and people are at the heart of organic cotton production. Organic farming does not allow the use of toxic chemicals of GMOs which reduces its environmental footprint.

When you buy organic cotton you are investing in water conservation, cleaner air, better soil and farmer livelihoods.

Responsible cotton

If we can’t source organic cotton, then we choose to source responsible cotton.

Responsibly sourced cotton is farmed using sustainable agricultural practices, helping farmers to grow in a way that reduces stress on the local environment and improves the livelihoods and welfare of farming communities.

TencelTencel

Tencel

TENCEL™ has a closed loop process recycling 99% of its waste, meaning it reuses what would otherwise be discarded of as wastewater. The fibre is certified as compostable and biodegradable and can fully revert back to nature. It has the same hard-working nature of cotton but leaves a lighter footprint on the environment – something we can definitely get behind.

Recycled Polyester

Certified Global Recycle Standard (GRS) recycled polyester is made from regenerated plastics and existing polyester fibres which would otherwise go to landfill.

Recycled polyester uses less resource to make with 59 percent less energy used in comparison to virgin polyester.

HempHemp

Hemp

Stronger and more durable than any other natural fabric, hemp has less environmental impact and a longer lifespan than other natural fabrics. It’s also an odourless fabric, making it a firm favourite in the heat of summer.

Not only is hemp strong, but it also holds its shape, stretching less than any other natural fibre. The more hemp is used, the softer it gets – wearing in, not out, it thrives on regular use.

French Linen

Built naturally strong and durable, yet offering the upmost breathability, we’re opting for the finest French linen originating from Normandy France.
